About Dale Dyer
MA, LPC
Dale is a Licensed Professional Counselor and is the founder of Newfield Therapy. He earned his Bachelors in Applied Learning and Development from The University of Texas at Austin and his Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, TX. He has 15+ years of experience working with adults and adolescents in educational, corporate, and counseling settings.
Dale is passionate about guiding clients to look inward, experience healing, and learn applicable tools that will allow them to live more authentically, regulate emotions, and connect more deeply with themselves and the people around them. A particular interest of Dale’s is making therapy more approachable to men. As an alternative to face-to-face therapy, he offers clients the options to lay down, move around the room, switch seats, or walk outside to facilitate deeper processing.
Dale is a native Texan who spent the first half of his life in rural, northeast Texas before moving to Austin. He left most of his East Texas accent behind the pine curtain, but occasionally clients may hear it during session. His humble roots and personal experience with grief, suffering, and doubts make Dale a warm, compassionate, and approachable therapist.
Dale is an old soul, a romantic, and someone who values curiosity, spirituality, beauty, and living with purpose. In his free time, he’s usually out in nature, biking around town, bouldering, or spending time with his wife and two young children. As a family, they enjoy walking Town Lake, picking up books from the neighborhood library, cooking together, hosting friends and family, gardening, and taking care of their chickens!
Dale is currently accepting new clients.
MY THERAPEUTIC APPROACH
I work with people who feel stuck: relationally, emotionally, spiritually, and/or vocationally. I view each client as a whole person, so during the initial session I facilitate a comprehensive assessment, collecting as many personal details as possible in order to best address the therapeutic needs and goals. Most of my clients experience symptom relief, personal insight, and deeper connection.
My ideal client is someone eager to do deep insight work and explore their identity, longings, motivations, and purpose. I prefer working with clients who desire to play an active role in their growth, and are open to the creative process of how we might arrive at their goals together. From my experience, clients who are curious, trusting, and honest (with me and themselves) tend to be most satisfied with therapy.
About Newfield Therapy
The name is a subtle nod to a little blue house on Newfield Lane, where I decided to change careers and go back to school to become a mental health counselor. I spent countless hours in this house reading, writing, and studying the history, mechanics, and art of therapy— often while simultaneously feeding or rocking our first born child. The name evokes hope, change, and a reminder that new growth and freedom are possible.
